In this paper, I’m working on a few different things. One, I need to actually finish my paper before I am able to go onto editing but besides that, I need to expand on some of my ideas.
I think the biggest thing that I need to improve on is how I introduce quotes and using more “they say”. Both a peer and professor commented this on my last paper and the paper I’m currently working on.
My goals for revision are to have correct grammar and spelling, just to cover the basics. My biggest goal would be to dive deep into personal stories and connect them with Beck and Strawson’s ideas, along with properly quoting said authors.
The steps I plan to take are:
- Finish writing the paper
- Reread quotes and adjust to fit paragraph
- Check for grammar and spelling errors
- Make sure I don’t leave my conclusion on a random note (like last time where I accidentally ended with a quote)
- Make sure my conclusion is a full paragraph instead of a few sentences
My biggest challenge will probably be too slow myself down when reading over my paper for any errors. I think way too fast sometimes and that tends to lead to spelling mistakes, sentences left in that I meant to delete, or other issues. If a challenge other than the one I just described comes up, I think I’ll first look to the resources I have from class, then the internet. If neither of those work, I would ask my mom or my friend to read over my essay to see where I could change anything.
